Happy Halloween

The VanderMeers put on their annual "Delmartion
Party" for all of the Delmar neighbors in Grant Park.
Once again, all of the neighbor kids enjoyed Charlie
Brown and ET on the big screen.

Unfortunately our photos don't do justice to the Delmartion
Party. This year's party boasted a popcorn machine, a
smoke machine, candy and food galore AND a gorilla
(which we later discovered was Jon's Mom visiting
from Buffalo!). Oh, and I almost forgot to mention the
cop chopper that kept circling over us. Nothing like living in
the inner-city...

The adults enjoyed spiked cider and Sweet Water 420.

Do you like the creepy effect from the Halloween lights?

Instead of wearing the full lady bug suit, Olivia
opted for the "cat burglar with antennae" look.

Ah, the camera has been adjusted to compensate
for the lights. Olivia conveniently grabbed Chris
"the Verizon man's" beer.

And then she grabbed her Mom's beer. We decided
it was time for her to enjoy a bottle of her own...
a bottle of formula.

The host and his lovely neighbor.

The few stragglers (or should I say adults?) that hung
on after all the kids went home.

Happy Halloween!

Trip to Helen

We took a quick trip up to Helen in the north Georgia mountains. It's Octoberfest in Helen but we went strictly for the nature and city folk hiking trails. Those are the ones that are actually paved. Embarrassing I know but we just watched Grizzly Man which made us a little nervous about bears and disturbed hippies. The pictures are from the Unicoi State Park waterfalls. I believe the Appalachian trail begins very close to here. Anyway, enjoy:

Kate tried her best Saint Paulie Girl impression to get Olivia to smile for the camera:

We topped off the day by stealing water from a nearby lake. Apparently these hicks have been holding out on us folks down in the big city. The latest report is 90 days of water left for the ATL. I found out recently that my garden hose has been running non stop for 4 months. My bad everyone. Just kidding.

Ladybug

Friday Olivia's school had an "Ooey Gooey
Halloween Party."

We dressed our little "ladybug" as a Ladybug. :)

Our fashionista selected a toy that coordinated with
her costume!

Olivia wasa really great about letting us dress her up.
She didn't fuss a single bit and even wore her
antennae the entire time!

We were so obsessed with how cute Olivia looked
that we forgot to take photos of her with her
classmates. There were some really fantastic
costumes, but Olivia's was by far our favorite.

Daddy and his ladybug.

Tummy time. We had to get a shot of the wings!

Happy Halloween!

Self Feeding

"Who needs a spoon when I can lick my bib?"
I decided to let Olivia feed herself her organic
carrots today.

She took the "carrots are good for your eyes"
theory to heart. As you can see, she smeared the
carrots directly on her eyes, eyelashes, and lids.
Based on the fact that she looks thrilled to be bathed
in carrot, I felt it safe to assume that carrots
are "non-irritating" to the eyes...

"Maybe the camera is hungry for some carrot too?!"
I had to back off after this shot as Olivia wanted
to share her carrots with the camera.

All I can say is Thank God for Tide and Clorox wipes!

Priceless

I forgot to include this photo from our
tailgate at the IA/IL game.

This young Iowa lass joined in our game
of "Cups." On a side note, the announcement of this
game once caused such a stir at an Iowa
party that several people left the party running.
They thought we were about to get busted by the
"cops." I digress...

Anyhoo- this picture doesn't do justice to this
girl's unique talent for opening beer cans with
her teeth.

Classy? Maybe not. Priceless? Definitely.
I'm sure her folks are proud.

Who's the Baby in the Mirror?

Fun Time in Iowa

Upon our arrival in Iowa, we were greeted with
balloons and a banner for our 5 year anniversary.
Thanks Mom and Dad!

Speaking of, Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!
October is the best time of year to get married,
don't you agree? :)

Mia was so excited to finally meet Olivia.

The 4 girls together in B-dorf.

Colleen came from Chicago and we visited Jenny.
Jenny's baby is due only 5 days before Xmas!

Olivia is all serious with Uncle TJ.

Papou and his grand-daughters. Mia decided
that Papou needed to be Irish and gave him
a shamrock sticker.

Cute cousins.

I love my Yiayia.

Thanks for a great trip. Olivia loved hanging out
with her immediate and very extended family.
I only wish I had a photo with all of the aunts,
uncles, cousins, grand-parents and great aunts
and uncles too. Thanks to everyone for coming
to meet the princess!

D-Cup and IC

Last week we ventured to Iowa to spend time with
family and friends. We also managed to make our
way to Iowa City to watch the Hawkeyes beat
the Fighting Illini and to participate in "The
Dennison Cup."--A tailgating contest! Here are several
photos of our trip to IC.

Apparently this Illinois fan thought she was at
the Illinois/Michigan game?! Either way, we
loved her shirt!

Ahhh, the beginning of the self portraits. It's hard
to believe we could muster a smile. Our arms were
freezing because we slipped a bunch of beer up
our sleeves before heading in to the game. Apparently
you don't get frisked by security if you look like you're
30!

Am I the only one who remembers these guys
from 10 years ago?!

With my old friend Todd, our D-Cup host.

Did I mention that Iowa actually won?!

Who let this guy sit at our table?

Get your minds out of the gutter--it's a beer funnel!

Iowa City's finest were impressed that we were
still tailgating well into the early evening. Of course,
we went straight from the tailgate to the bars.
I am proud to say that Pat LOVED Iowa City-
he even felt that downtown IC rivaled
Auburn and Athens (actually I think he even
liked IC better!).

The end is near. I think we left for our hotel
shortly after these photos were taken. Needless
to say, we did NOT win the D-Cup contest this
year. We did, however, have a great time.

We definitely won't wait 9 more years to trek
back to the land of the Hawkeyes!

5 Years, 5 Teeth and More Family

We have been really busy in the Henry household
these past few weeks. Friday was our 5 year anniversary
(I will spare you our wedding photos, although
they are pretty cute). Unfortunately, our plans
were sidelined by a sinus infection. I was too sick
to go out. I can't complain as I haven't been sick
in a looonnggg time. However, it was disappointing to
have to cancel our dinner plans!

On a lighter note, Pat's Aunt Dottie and Uncle
Bill paid us a visit. It was Olivia's and my first
time meeting the Schulz's and a good time was had
by all.

As you can see, Olivia loved the big pink teddy bear that
Aunt Dottie and Uncle Bill gave her.

Family Fun at Front Page News

We discovered 3 new teeth this weekend. Olivia now
has 5 teeth! As you can see, she is more interested
in sticking out her tongue for the camera than showing
her pearly whites.

"Back off, I'm not opening my mouth for you!"

Red roses for me. I LOVE red roses. They are
my favorite flower and were everywhere at my
wedding. That's why I get them on most holidays.
Thanks Pat! XOXO

As you can see, Olivia loves red roses too.
